The Cardiff Fire are thrilled to announce the signing of veteran center Steve "Ozzy" Osman for the remainder of the 2026/27 season, bolstering the ranks ahead of this Sundayβs home game against the Solent Devils.
The Swindon-born forward brings a wealth of high-level experience, leadership and a proven winning pedigree to the Fire lineup.
Osman is no stranger to Cardiff hockey, having previously played for the Cardiff Devils in both NIHL1 and Elite League during the 2012/13 season. More recently, he played for the Cardiff Canucks in NIHL2, where he led the team in points last season with 15 goals and 21 assists.
Osman boasts extensive experience having previously featured in the Elite League, English Premier League and National League. Ozzy has established himself as a stalwart in NIHL1 with over 350 games played for a number of teams, most recently icing for the Solent Devils.
In the 2015/16 campaign, Osman finished the year as the NIHL1 South top points-scorer with an unmatched total of 80 points in league competition alone. That following season, he was a key part of the Invicta Dynamos team that captured the NIHL1 Southern Playoff Championship title.
Speaking on the new signing, Head Coach Elis Sheppard said:
Signing Ozzy to bolster our already impressive forward depth is a huge bonus for us.
Ozzy is known around the league for his playmaking and finishing ability, which with the current calibre of players we have, will only enhance our attacking prowess.
Iβm excited to add him into our roster for the rest of the season.
Widely known as a natural leader both on and off the ice, Osman's exceptional work ethic, vision and experience will provide an immediate boost to the Fire squad as the team pushes through the remainder of the campaign.
The Fire Family can look forward to seeing Steve on the ice at the Vindico Arena this Sunday. Everyone at the Fire would like to give a warm welcome to Ozzy! #92
