Cardiff Fire are thrilled to announce the re-signing of last season’s Young Player of the Year, forward Alfie Stone, for the 2026-27 season.
17 year-old Alfie is a product of the Cardiff Junior development system having played since the start of his career. At the age of 16, he had already played 28 games at under 18s, registering 30 points, and also registered 9 points in 18 games in the NIHL2, whilst also playing two games for the MK Thunder.
In his first full season in NIHL1, Alfie finished top of the team in assists and points, scoring 2 goals and assisting 8 times in all competitions.

Head Coach Elis Sheppard on the signing of Alfie:
I am delighted that Alfie has agreed to play for the Fire this season.
Naturally, as the season progressed Alfie grew into his role on the team. His role within the changing room also increased too.
Alfie became a reliable 2-way centre who could play both penalty kill and power play. He has exceptional hands and has a calmness in his game beyond his years.
I’m looking forward to seeing Alfie grow further and push the team to new levels.
Everyone at the Fire would like to give a warm welcome back to Alfie! #10
