Cardiff Fire hockey is back for the 2023/24 season

Cardiff Fire are delighted to share the fixture schedule for the 2023/24 season. The summer break is over and pre-season is well underway. The new season is officially just around the corner with Fire starting on the road against the Buffalo on the 9th September before our home opener the following weekend on Saturday 16th September against the Lee Valley Lions.

The league and cup format for the 2023/24 season is as follows:

Regular Season

The league will once again consist of one home and one away game against all 11 other teams in the NIHL South 2 (Wilkinson) division.

Wilkinson Cup

The cup competition will take place with a qualification round having two groups. The group games are not stand-alone fixtures with the first home and away meeting between the teams counting towards qualification standings. The top two sides from each group will go through to play two legged semi-finals over the weekend of 27-28 January followed by a two legged Cup Final over the weekend of 24-25 February at own rinks.

West Group: Basingstoke, Bristol, Cardiff, Guildford, Oxford and Solent

East Group: Chelmsford, Haringey, Invicta, Lee Valley, Peterborough and Streatham

Playoffs

The top eight sides from the regular season will go through to the first round of playoffs in two-legged quarter-finals over the weekend of 30-31 March at own rinks. The four winning sides then make it to the Playoff Finals played over the weekend of 6-7 April at a venue to be confirmed at a later date.

We are very excited to welcome the Fire Family back to the newly named Vindico Arena with our first home game of the season on Saturday 16th September. Please stay tuned to Cardiff Fire socials for more announcements about the new season ahead including player signings and tickets to home games.
