Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce that forwards Lewis Stevens, Chris Fox and Thomas Stevens all return for the 2022/23 season.
Lewis Stevens
Lewis Stevens begins his 5th season with the Fire playing in D1 and D2, after spending all his junior hockey career in Cardiff. Lewis is a real club man and does a lot behind the scenes. This has been rewarded by appointing Lewis as club Captain for the 2022/23 season.
Head Coach Elis Sheppard continued:
I have known Lewis for a long time, and he is someone who does not need an introduction. Lewis is one of the most passionate players on the team, willing to give 100% every shift. Lewis’ game has gone from strength to strength, including improving his skating and shooting during the off season. He is a born leader, and I am excited to be working closely with him this season as the club’s Captain.

Fire Captain Lewis Stevens said:
It’s an honour to be voted as Captain by such a great group of guys. Filling Shep’s shoes won’t be an easy task, but it’s going to be a hell of a lot easier with him by my side! We’ve put a lot of work in throughout the summer and I just can’t wait to get going again and play for the fans. Time to get hockey back to Cardiff where it belongs. Fire family… let’s get it!
Lewis is sponsored by Rhys Welsh Design. Rhys Welsh is a Cardiff based designer and along with his team they provide design services including web, graphics and marketing. More information can be found at www.rhyswelsh.com.
Chris Fox
Chris Fox also returns to the line-up for the 2022/23 season. Chris joined the Fire in 2018 from Lee Valley Lions. Spending all of his career in the South East representing Lee Valley, Streatham, Haringey and Slough. Chris had his best year for the Fire last season, finishing 2nd overall in team scoring. Chris will wear many hats for the Fire this year as he is appointed Assistant Coach and Alternate Captain. Chris is also a doctor in South Wales and assists the team with medical needs.
Head Coach Elis Sheppard continued:
Foxy brings a plethora of experience to the team. He is a great playmaker, who finished last season leading the team with assists. He is an ever-present figure in the locker room and I am delighted that he has also taken the role as Assistant Coach this season.

Thomas Stevens
Tom begins his 4th season with the Fire after having played all his hockey in the capital. 30 year old Tom has played for the club in D1 and D2 over the years and this season Tom takes on the role of Alternate Captain for the club. Tom is a leader in the room and brings a lot of maturity to the team.
Head Coach Elis Sheppard continued:
Tom is a guy who is 100% team first. He is an intelligent player, with a strong hockey IQ. Tom brings calmness to the locker room and the ice. He is also not afraid to drop the gloves to protect the team. I know that Tom will lead from the front this season.
