Cardiff Fire hockey back for the 2022/23 season

Cardiff Fire are pleased to release the fixtures for the 2022/23 season. After a relaxing summer the Fire are back with a bang, starting the new chapter on the road to last seasons league champions Guildford. We are also excited to see a new team from Oxford enter the division and we look forward to welcoming them to Ice Arena Wales this season.

The league and cup format for the 2022/23 season is as follows:

Regular Season

The league will once again consist of one home and one away game against all 12 other teams in the Wilkinson division.

Wilkinson Cup

The cup competition will take place with a qualification round having two groups. The group games are not stand-alone fixtures with the first home and away meeting between the teams counting towards qualification standings. The group stage will lead to two-legged semi-finals in January and a two-legged Cup Final in February.

Playoffs

The top eight sides from the regular season will go through to the first round of playoffs in two-legged quarter finals (1v8, 2v7 etc.) over the weekend of 25-26 March. The four winning sides then make it to the Playoff Finals played over the weekend of 1-2 April.

More details can be found in the EIHA official release here.

We are very excited to welcome the Fire Family back to Ice Arena Wales with our first home game of the season on Sunday 18 September against Chelmsford. Please stay tuned to Cardiff Fire socials for more announcements about the new season ahead including player signings and tickets to home games.
