Cardiff Fire have added Sam Bryant, James Whiting and Tamas Elias to the roster for the 2016/17 season. Sam Bryant spent last season playing for the Cardiff under 18’s, Under 20’s and NIHL1. 18 Year old Bryant is a quick young winger that plays with an edge, he drives the net well and plays with lots of energy. Sam scored 11 points in just 9 games for Cardiff under 20’s last season (7+4) and 4 points in NIHL (2+2).
Hungarian born Tamas is another youngster with speed and energy, starting his UK carrer in Swindon juniors before heading to Cardiff to play NIHL2 and under 18’s. In his first year at Cardiff under 18’s Tamas scored an impressive 41 points in just 16 games (19+22) While also putting up good numbers at senior level. Last season Tamas split his time between Cardiff Under 20’s and NIHL 1.
The 3rd signing is no stranger to Cardiff Fire, Goalie James Whiting joins for his 2nd season and his first as full senior. James was part of the championship winning under 18 team and has had experience of NIHL 1 and NIHL 2 hockey since he was 16 years old. James adds strength in depth to our goaltending team.
Mark Cuddihy continued “We said at the end of last season that we wanted to get younger. Both Tamas and James were in their last year of ‘junior’ hockey and were looking to progress full-time into senior hockey. Sam is slightly different as he is still 18 years old, I am excited to have someone as young as Sam on-board as I feel he can learn a lot and develop with the experience we have in our team. Both Tamas and Sam will add speed to our line up, it will help us with the penalty kill and overall depth to our squad. With James we know what we are getting, he’s played quite a few senior games and he knows our team well, he’s a great young goalie and we are lucky to have him with us”
