Entertainer Armour returns to Cardiff

Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce their fifth signing of the summer, former fans favourite Alan Armour.

Armour had earlier announced his retirement but has been tempted back to play another season in Cardiff.
The Swindon native played all his junior hockey in Swindon before stepping up to play for the Wildcats as a 16 year old. Alan spent the next 8 years between Swindon and Bracknell also going on to represent Oxford and Wightlink before finding his way to Cardiff in 2009 where he helped the ENL 1 Devils to the runners up spot and cementing his position within the Cardiff hockey community as a true entertainer for the game. Although Armour has spent the majority of his career playing in the higher leagues he has played 248 games in the ENL/ED1 leagues Scoring 124 goals, 176 assists an impressive 300 points.
Alan will wear his usual number 13 shirt for the Fire.

Mark Cuddihy had this to say about the signing “I have known Alan since I was 10/11 years old. He’s a great player and an even better guy. Deacs and I put a call into Arms mins after leaving the EIHA meeting to see if he could be tempted to play another year. He was very interested from the start and we have spoken regularly about the team and situation here. I was delighted he agreed to have a 3rd spell in Cardiff and put retirement on ice for now. Arms will be a real asset to the team on and off the ice. He plays the game with a smile on his face, he sees the ice very well and is a great playmaker and powerplay guy”

Armour added “I didn’t expect to be playing again, but after a serious change in my personal circumstances I now have too much time on my hands and hockey is in my blood. Cudd and Deacs spoke to me early in the summer and explained the plans, it was a fairly short conversation before I said I’m in. I love Cardiff and I have always wanted to play in the new rink. Add to that I know the team being assembled and it’s full of my mates so we are guaranteed to have fun. I feel like I’m 16 again I’m so excited about the season starting and getting back on the ice”
