The Pitbulls took an early two goal lead in the game, but a goal by 17 year old Alessio Bovolenta at 14:08 followed by another by Lewis Stevens at 16:48 got the Fire on the scoreboard to tie things up. Bristol took the lead again early in the second period, but Fire answered back on a powerplay just over a minute later with a second goal for Lewis Stevens at 24:05 to keep things tied in the game. It was the Pitbulls that took yet another lead early in the third period, but the Fire answered back once again when Kris Kasjanovs snuck the puck past the Bristol goalie at 43:27.

In the final few minutes of the game, the Fire saw off a 5-on-3 opportunity for the Pitbulls with the game looking like it was going to overtime. With just 20 seconds left on the clock, captain Lewis Stevens scored his third goal for a hat-trick, giving the Fire the lead for the first time in the game and securing the win for the team.

Goaltender Ben Scanlan finished the night with a solid performance in net stopping 46 of the 50 shots faced recording a 92.00% save percentage.

Carter Lloyd picked up Player of the Game with three assists and Fire claimed the first 2 points in the season series against the Pitbulls.

Following the win Head Coach Elis Sheppard said:

What a win by the boys. Playing against an unbeaten rival makes it even sweeter. I’m proud of the performance by the team. A special mention to the travelling Fire Family. It definitely made a difference for the boys.
