Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce that Cardiff and British hockey legend Jason Stone has re-joined the Fire management and will coach the NIHL2 development team with Gareth Dixon while also helping the NIHL 1 team. Jason is also involved in the Cardiff junior programme.
Cardiff born ‘Stoney’ holds the record for the number of games played for the Cardiff Devils and has iced in 1069 senior games with 90% of those games coming in the highest level of British Hockey. Stoney also has the honour of having his number 10 jersey retired by the Cardiff Devils.
Mark Cuddihy added “Stoney has been involved with the NIHL teams since 2011 as a player and a coach and the help he has given to young players, especially the young defenceman has been tremendous. He has great hockey knowledge and has seen everything there is to see in British hockey. The young players just joining the Cardiff Fire set-up should feel honoured to have Stoney out there coaching them”
