Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce the signing of defenceman Tom Stephens from Oxford City Stars for the 2024/25 season.
Tom started his hockey career as a junior in Milton Keynes, captaining his under 18 team for two seasons and made the step up to senior hockey during the 2019/20 season playing 21 games for Milton Keynes Thunder, still as a junior.

Over the next 3 seasons Tom split his time between OHA, Swindon Wildcats and Bristol. Last season Tom played exclusively for Oxford City Stars in division one playing 27 games.
Still only 20 years old Tom has amassed an impressive 121 division one games and brings a lot of D1 experience for such a young player.

Head Coach Elis Sheppard continued:
I am delighted to bring Tom into the team to help bolster our defensive line. From scouting reports and playing against Tom previously I know how great of an additional he is for the team.
Tom is one of the hardest workers on the ice, giving 100% each shift with no off nights. He adds size, calmness and experience to our roster. I’m excited to welcome him aboard.

New signing Tom Stephens said:
When I first spoke to Shep earlier in the summer and he explained Cardiff’s plans for the future, I was immediately interested knowing I will be in the South West for the next few years. I had already heard it’s a great group of guys, that the club is well run and the fans are fantastic.
We will be a young team next year, but having been in this league a few seasons now I hope I can bring some experience at the back end. I know we will make ourselves tough to play against and can’t wait to get going.
Welcome to the Fire Family, Tom Stephens! #FireItUp
