Billingham-born forward Craig Thurston joins the Fire for the 2025-26 season

Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce the newest addition to the team, forward Craig Thurston for the 2025-26 season.

Craig split junior hockey with Newcastle Vipers, Bradford Bulldogs and Kingston Sharks, posting impressive figures, notably 29 points in just 8 games in the 2010-11 season.

Craig was called up to the ENL2 Hull Stingrays whilst also dressing for their Elite League team in the same season.

Craig is no stranger to this league, playing 94 games between Solway Sharks and Billingham Stars scoring an impressive 80 points, whilst stints in the WSHL, FPHL and EPIHL also add to his impressive resume.

Head Coach Elis Sheppard on the latest addition:

Craig will bring a whole new level of compete and dynamic to our game. The level’s he has already played at speaks for itself, but I know he is eager to bring a competitive nature, along with a physical element to the game.

He is only 29, but will be one of our senior guys and expect his knowledge of the game to be passed down onto the younger players.

Craig will wear the number 95 jersey for Fire for the upcoming season. Everyone at the Cardiff Fire would like to give a warm welcome to Craig! #FireFamily
