Fire add former super league D man and Devils Legend

Stoney
Cardiff Fire are delight to announce we have secured the services of Jason Stone for the 2015/16 season. Jason, like others, needs little introduction to the Devils fans. Beginning his senior career in Cardiff in 1988 Jason Stone is the record holder for appearances for the Cardiff Devils. Playing in the BD1 BHL, Super League, BNL, EIHL and ENIHL. He has only played outside of Cardiff twice playing for  Guildford and Swindon in the EPL. For the last 4 season Jason has played ENIHL division 1 in Cardiff and now adds division 2 to his impressive CV. Stoney is the only Cardiff and Welsh born player to have his jersey retired by the Cardiff Devils and is a true legend in British hockey. He has also represented GB in the world championships.

Mark Cuddihy added “I have known Stoney for almost 30 years. As junior players he was always someone we looked up to and wanted to emulate. Nothing has changed there. I had the pleasure of singing him in 2012 for the NIHL 1 team and he has helped me develop many players, you only need to ask players like Callum Buglass what it was like to play alongside Stoney. We have another young player in Elis Sheppard, its going to be fantastic for guys like Elis to play in a team with Stoney.  I’m delighted to have him with the Fire”
