Cardiff Fire are pleased to announce the signing of former Cardiff Devils GK Joe Myers. Joe joins the Fire from the Braehead Clan in the Elite League where he was an EIHL Gardiner conference champion. Joe is no stranger to championships, winning the EIHL knockout cup and an EPL playoff winner. Joe’s career has taken him from Cardiff to Romford, Slough, back to Cardiff and last season with Braehead Clan. Joe has played 46 games in the Elite league, 35 in the EPL and brings with him a ton of experience between the pipes.
Mark Cuddihy added “we are all delighted to bring Joe to the team. He’s a fantastic guy with bags of experience, he will help everyone of us, including myself. His development has been astronomical over the years. He has improved year upon year with each opportunity. His knowledge of the game is great. Joe used to often skate with us during the summer and he was always a huge help. I’m really excited to add him alongside Takel and Brabon. With those 3 guys I believe we have the best trio outside the EPL. The entire team is excited to have him”
Joe Myers added “ I’ve always been an admirer of Cudd and what he achieved in the years he was head coach of the NIHL 1 team. The amount of players that got their shot at playing for the Devils, Ben Davies, Luke Piggott and Chris Jones to name a few is a lot to do with his hard work and dedication.
When he approached me in the summer about his plans for the Cardiff Fire I would be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in coming back and playing with guys that I’d grown up with and help the next bunch of young players have an opportunity to make it to the senior ranks.
With the squad he’s assembled it will be a fun and exciting year. I guarantee we will be in the mix for trophies come the business end of the year and I can’t wait to get started.
