The Cardiff Fire team are taking part in our Fire It Up for February running challenge raising funds to support the mental health charity Mind. We would love for you to join us. It’s open to all supporters from fans and friends to partners and parents – Everyone is welcome to take part!
Throughout the month of February we will be running individually as part of our exercise and fundraising challenge to raise money for better mental health. We have set a team target of 500km to complete over the month, with an individual target of 42km – roughly the distance of a marathon. Simplified it’s just two 5km runs a week, with one of the runs being 7km in your final week.
🎽 Raising funds for Mind
This winter is tougher than many we’ve faced before and your support is needed more than ever to help make sure no one faces a mental health problem alone. All the money donated to this fundraiser goes straight to the mental health charity Mind and your money will help support the vital work they do to help people in crisis, especially during the pandemic.
If you are unable to take part, please sponsor us what you can to help us reach our fundraising target.

🏃 How to take part
If you would like to take part, simply track your runs with a fitness app of your choice and send us your weekly running total. You can clock up the kilometres however it suits you and throughout the month you can decide on the length of your runs.
At the end of each week send us a screenshot from your fitness app showing how far you have run, along with any selfies to keep us up-to-date with your progress. We’ll add your distance to the fundraising page so we can see everyone’s combined distance rack up over the month. Don’t forget to tag us on social media and use the hashtag #FireItUp so we can share your progress.
If you are new to running or unsure about reaching the individual target, don’t worry. This is a challenge for everyone of all abilities. It’s not a race and it’s not about who is the quickest. It’s about getting out in the fresh air and getting active to complete as many kilometres as you can. Remember, it’s the taking part that counts.
To help us with our fundraiser for Mind, please share our JustGiving fundraising page with your friends and family so they can sponsor you as much as they can.
❤️ Stay safe
Please stay safe whilst taking part in your exercise, making sure to plan your routes and wear reflective clothing. Please also ensure to follow the latest COVID-19 guidelines to protect yourself and others from coronavirus.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
