Cardiff Fire and award-winning Radio Cardiff show have renewed their partnership for a third season.
Fire has again linked up with Chris O'Brien's 'Standing Room Only' sports and music show, which is available on 98.7FM, DAB radio and online.
As part of the exciting link-up, O’Brien has been Fire's match night announcer for home games since 2021, and will return to the mic for Sunday's home game with Peterborough Phantoms and throughout the season. He will also provide interviews for the club's own Cardiff Fire TV channel - including with head coach and defenceman Elis Sheppard after home matches.
Standing Room Only broadcasts at 9pm on Thursday evenings on community station Radio Cardiff 98.7FM, the only terrestrial radio channel exclusively covering the capital city of Wales. The station recently became available on DAB radio too, as well as online.
The show is focussed on local sport and music, and part of the programme’s core ethos is to deliver parity of coverage for the local professional, semi-professional and grassroots sports scenes. It has twice won honours at the UK Community Radio awards – winning silver in the prestigious Sports Show of the Year category in 2018, and bronze in 2019.

I'm over the moon that Standing Room Only and Radio Cardiff have teamed up with Cardiff Fire for a third successive season.
It's been awesome to take the mic as match night announcer at the Ice Arena Wales and be part of such an amazing club. Everyone has made me feel incredibly welcome at the Fire - from the players, to the coaching staff, plus Mark Cuddihy, James Assinder and all the rest of the incredible off-ice team.
The atmosphere generated by the #FireFamily at home games can be really special - and I can't wait to be involved again, and to work alongside DJ Dave who brings the tunes when I run out of words! We really want to get the place rocking again this season!
In recent years, Fire coverage has consistently featured on the airwaves thanks to the Radio Cardiff show - including player interviews, match reaction and audio highlights.
Chris O'Brien added:
Radio Cardiff 98.7FM has also become the home of the Fire on the airwaves – from match highlights, to interviews and reports. We’ll be keeping it that way for the new season, on Thursday evenings at 9pm. The station is now available on DAB too, so there's even more ways to get your Fire fix.
It'd be great to see even more fans get down to the Arena this season to back the Fire – for affordable, entertaining and fun ice hockey action in the Welsh capital. And keep your radios locked into the Standing Room Only show for all the latest news, reaction and opinion from your Cardiff Fire!

Mark Cuddihy said:
I am thrilled that Chris and Standing Room Only are back onboard with the Fire for a third season. I am a big fan of the show, I’ve been on it myself along with some of the guys. Chris brings his energy from his radio show into our match nights and always has the place rocking. We pride ourselves on the best match night experience we can deliver and having Chris back again was crucial to that. Chris has become a huge part of Cardiff Fire over the last two years and I know the players are also pumped that he’s back due to the atmosphere he creates within the building.
Tune in to Radio Cardiff on 98.7FM, DAB radio or online on Thursday evenings at 9pm to catch Chris O'Brien's sports and music show.
Standing Room Only can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.
Welcome back to the Fire family, Chris and Radio Cardiff!
