Former Elite League Defenceman joins the Fire

James Manson

Cardiff Fire are extremely delighted to announce the signing of James Manson. James needs no real introduction to Cardiff Hockey fans. Playing his first senior game for the Cardiff Devils in 1991 as a 15 year old James went on to have a fantastic career in British hockey. Playing in all leagues from the BHL to the Elite League. James has played 439 senior games in Cardiff, Manchester, Telford, Guildford, Basingstoke and Swindon. James has also represented GB at all levels.

James has spent the last few years out of hockey but has continued with sporting success. James is a very competitive triathlon athlete and joins the Fire in great shape for the forthcoming season.

Mark Cuddihy continued “I’ve known James since I was in junior school and played all my juniors with him. He was always a stand out player. It came as no surprise he debuted for the senior team at such a young age.  He’s hockey brain and ability was always years ahead of most players. James returned a few years ago to help out the ENL1 team and was absolutely fantastic. He was called upon to help the Elite League team during that spell and did a great job. He’s the kind of signing that gives everyone a lift. He has experience at the highest level and will bring all that experience to our team. I’ve nagged James all summer so to say I’m delighted he’s agreed to step back on the ice is a massive understatement”
