Cardiff Fire are pleased to announce the signing of Steve Newton. Steve has played all his career in Cardiff and had signed for the Cardiff NIHL1 team this season. Steve played last season in division one also, scoring 15 points (8+7) in his first full season at that level. Steve is a popular guy around Cardiff Hockey, always giving 100% and willing to stand up for his team mates.
Head coach Mark Cuddihy added “Steve is 100% kinda guy, i’ve always had time for him. He’s helped me out a bunch of times over the years and has never let me down. We brought him up to ENL 1 hockey in 2013 and looked to keep hold of him at that level. When he called me during the week I jumped at the chance to sign him up. He’s a true dressing room guy who knows when to give the team a lift. He works hard, follows systems and chips in with points. That was evident last season. I’m really pleased he’s signed for us and we welcome him with open arms”
