Former NCAA utility player David Manning Joins the Fire

Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce the signature of David Manning for the 2017/18 season.

In 2002/03 Manning played J18 for Limhamn in Sweden, the top junior league in Sweden, scoring almost a point a game in his first season. The following year he stepped up to the senior team playing in Swedish Division 2 playing 8 games again scoring almost a point a game. Unfortunately his season was cut short and David returned to Australia where he played in the AIHL and also represented the Australian national team at junior level.

Following a stint back home David ventured to North America to play for the LA junior Kings playing 48 games and racking up an impressive 57 points. The following two seasons he split his time between the GMHL, AIHL and then back to North America to play for Villanova Knights in the Ontario junior Hockey league. In 2009 David Joined Nothland Colledge in the NCAA III spending 3 seasons at that level.

More recently, in 2014/15 David went back to Sweden and iced for IFK Ore in the Swedish 2nd league scoring 12 points in 25 games. Heading off to France in 2015 David suited up for Courbevole in the French 2nd tier. The well travelled Australian native holds both an Australian and UK passport but will count as an import for Cardiff Fire.

Mark Cuddihy continued “Like Kalle David came for a try-out with us last week and he has a lot to offer us, he is another player with a great pedigree in hockey, having played in Sweden, North America, Australia and France.  He was very quick and has plenty of skill, he will be an exciting player for sure. He can play as a forward or defenceman and that gives us plenty of options for this season. He’s very quick, a great skater and can put the puck away. David fitted right into the room and cant wait to get going for us. Its touch and go if we can get him in for this weekend but we will be trying our best”

Welcome to the Fire David Manning.
