Fire add depth with the return of 17 year-old Cardiff prospect Josh Poole

Cardiff Fire are excited to announce the return of forward Joshua Poole for the 2025-26 season following a one season hiatus.

Josh, a product of both the Cardiff and Swindon Junior development, joined the Fire on his 16th birthday where he scored his first senior goal on his debut in a 4-3 victory over the Invicta Mustangs back in the 2023-24 season.

Last year, Josh split his time between the Cardiff Junior Devils scoring 9 points in 7 games, the NIHL2 scoring 8 points in 14 games and the National division scoring 5 points in 28 games.

Josh is returning to the Fire, looking to add depth and a scoring touch in the roster.

Head Coach Elis Sheppard on the signing:

It’s great to have Josh back in the Fire set up this season. He is a player who has been around the Fire since he was 15 and has all the key attributes to become an established hockey player.

He was nominated for young player of the year in the National division which is a testament to the hard work he has put in. He skates well and reads the game superbly. I’m excited to add his ability to the roster.

Welcome back to the Fire Family, Josh! #92
