Whiting brothers back with the Fire for 2021-22

Cardiff Fire are pleased to announce the return of both James Whiting and Jack Whiting for the 2021-22 season.

James and Jack both started their hockey careers in Cardiff and have moved through into the senior team. Goalie James is now somewhat of a veteran of NIHL hockey making his debut in the 2013 season aged just 16 and was also part of the Elite League group in Cardiff during the 2013-14 season.

Younger brother and forward Jack also followed in the footsteps of James by playing senior hockey at just 16. In his first year of senior hockey Jack played 18 times for the Fire D1 team and 11 times for the D2 team.

Director of Hockey and Head Coach Mark Cuddihy added:

It’s great that both Jack and James are back with us for another season. In James we have a very solid goalkeeper with lots of experience of National league hockey, and a very popular guy in the dressing room. It’s crazy to think he’s only 24, as he has been with us for so long now.

Younger brother Jack started training with us at 15 and his development from then until now has been outstanding. The two main reason for this is his love of the game and his work ethic. Jack would be on the ice 7 days a week if he could and always gives everything he has in practice and games. He learns all the time and you can just see him getting better and better every single week. I’ve known the family now for a long time and both guys will be fantastic for us yet again, on and off the ice.

Welcome back James and Jack Whiting! #FireItUp
