Cardiff Fire are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward William Thurlbert for the 2026-27 season.
20 year-old Will started his hockey career here in Cardiff before heading out to Canada in 2022 following a breakout season with the Junior Devils U16s where Will racked up an impressive 51 points in just 18 games (28+23).
During his two years with OHA in Canada, Will played 75 games scoring 24 points covering various leagues including AAA & AA U18s hockey.
In his second season with the Fire, Will finished the regular season joint first in assists and joint second in points, scoring 3 goals and assisting 6 times in all competitions.

Will deciding to return to the Fire is key in our progression of the club. Heโs a finesse player with an intelligent hockey head on his shoulders.
Will can play a number of positions and is always reliable. He is still only very young, but has established himself as a key player to the team. The continued exposure to top minutes will only benefit his gameplay further!
William will wear the number 9 jersey for Fire for the upcoming season. Everyone at the Fire would like to give a warm welcome back to Will! #9
