Pontypool born Luke Takel becomes the 8th signing of the season for the Cardiff Fire. Luke has played all his career in Cardiff starting in the juniors. Luke joined the enl programme in 2007 and has been ever present since. Takel was part of the runners up team in ENL1 during the 2008/09 season. Luke has played some games in Division 2 before and has recorded save percentages around 91-92% – for the last few seasons Luke has shared goaltending duties with Mike Brabon in Division one and has regularly featured amongst the top end of the goalie stats in the league.
Coach Mark Cuddihy added “Luke is another player that has been with me since day one and he will be a fantastic addition to the team, he will be one of the best goalies in the league. He’s one of those players that never stops improving season upon season. He’s very athletic and takes his hockey seriously. He’s always been a player we could trust 100% every game to bring his full commitment. He brings everything to practice and that’s exactly why he’s continuously raising his own standards. Taks will always give you chance to win a game. He’s a huge signing for us”
